Aston Martin DB9 Later Seats, the early seats are not as comfortable, nor look as good as the 2008 onward seats.

Hey Paul I just came across the website and love the mods.

Have you ever thought of swapping the Seat controls from the black plastic ones like you have above to the metallic style that the 2012 DBS, 2012 DB9 use?

I looked up an ebay listing for a black plastic one and found one for a v8 vantage which is similar with seat controls and the picture shows 16 pins. (shorted the url hopefully its still valid when you see it https://bitly.ws/Vbfs ). The 16 pins match up to the wiring pin out diagram for the db9 you have on the this site ( https://bitly.ws/VbfG )

I couldn’t find the right diagram for the 2012s but looking at a rapide (which has an extra switch for the lumbar, I assumed the rest of the pins should be identical to the 2012’s in the other models which dont have the lumbar, but the pin out in an ebay listing ( https://bitly.ws/Vbgh ) only shows 4 pins. The diagram here ( https://bitly.ws/Vbgu ) also shows 4 pins. And the way the pins are connected looks like

I wonder if theres a way to disassemble the front panel of the housing of the seat with the metal buttons and swap it over since the wiring diagrams are not a 1:1 .

      Hi,

The alloy controls are not a straightforward swap, I have done it but not written it up yet.
The alloy controls send a signal down just two wires to tell the ecu what to do as apposed to a separate wire for each movement.
I have swapped mine over but I’m creating a PCB to make it easier and more professional.
You can’t just swap the front panels as positioning is different as well as other changes such as the alloy controls being illuminated.

      Initial write up.
