Aston Martin Alloy Seat Controls, Most DB9s came with black plastic seat controls, either with or without memory and they look fairly cheap and low quality in such a high quality car, later cars came with Alloy controls which looked much better but the wiring is completely different.

My car (2006 DB9 Volante) came with early seats without memory, however it had already been upgraded to the later 2007+ seats. On the early seats the switch pack was high current capable with the Switch Pack directly controlling the seat motors, the later seats had ECU’s built into the seat with low current switch packs talking to the ECU and the ECU controlling the motor.
I Initially upgraded to the Plastic Memory Controller which involved changing the connectors on teh end of the switch pack.
I now plan to change the the later (Rapide, and 2013+ DB9, Vanquish) Alloys switches, these are also illuminated and operate on a completely different method, sending a signal to the ECU using just 2 wires instead of a wire for each direction for each motor so lots of rewiring will be needed.

Hi Paul,
Did you end up getting this seat control change done?
I’m looking at doing the same and would be interested in how you found it. Was the rewiring particularly difficult to do? And what did you decide to do with the lumbar support rocker switch?
Cheers, James
Hi James,
I have done the seat controls but have not had time to produce a more easily reproducible version, it’s still on my list of to dos…
I’ve got a couple of ideas for the lumbar switch, either exhaust or Android Auto.
