DB9 Volante rear anti-roll bar. The Aston Martin DB9 Volante came without a rear anti roll bar and thus does not handle as well as the coupe. The Volante chassis is also less rigid than the coupe, click here for increasing the strength of the DB9 Volante Chassis.
It is easy to retrofit a DB9 anti roll bar (or a DBS anti roll bar, but the parts are far more expensive) as the mounting points are already there. Parts needed are the anti roll bar, brackets and bushes, M8 bolts and drop links. The brackets bolt into the existing mounting points and there are also mounting points for the drop links on the lower arms. The brackets bolt on to the mounting points on the rear of the subframe where there are pre drilled and tapped holes, the anti- roll bar goes above the lower wishbone is is mounted via the drop links to the built in bracket on the lower wishbones.
Part Numbers are:
- (1) Anti roll bar 4G43-5A771-AA
- (4) Bracket 4G43-5487-CA
- (6) Bolt 701154 (M8 * 21 serrated head bolt)
- (5) Bush 4G43-5484-CA
- (2) Drop Links 4G43-5664-AD
- (6) 701743 (M12 *1.5 Flange nut)
This modifications transforms the handling, much flatter and more pointy.
DBS Anti-roll bars
DBS anti-roll bars can also be fitted instead of the DB9 bars, these are thicker and resist roll more than the DB9 bars but are more expensive, particularly the mounting bushes. Ideally you would fit DBS bars front and rear, not just at the rear.
