DB9 Bonnet bump stop support

DB9 Bonnet bump stop support

Posted on February 9, 2022February 14, 2026 by Paul

Updated 7/2/26, now available with bump stops

DB9 bonnet bump stop support, The DB9, DBS bonnet (hood) bump stops are very flimsy and break easily, they are just plastic and are part of the grill with no support. If the bracket breaks an new grille is needed at over 1000GBP!

The new version of these is made from a combination of Polycarbonate, Stainless Steel and brass

The body of the support is 22mm diameter, narrowing to 14mm at the top to fit under the existing support. The body is 130mm long, and both the female and male threads are M6 x 1.0

They provide a rigid attachment by screwing into the hole at the base of the grill that is in alignment with the support at the top, the bump stop then screws through the original support and into the top of the new support. These are very strong as the force now goes directly into the chassis rather than a floppy piece of plastic.

After I realised that they are quite obvious through the grille as they are Aluminium and everything else behind the grille is black, so I painted them in Satin black to blend in better, it is now no problem to let the bonnet drop or slam shut without the worry of the upports breaking off.

Installation

Firstly remove the slam panel at the front of the car.

The bolts are torx T30 and may or may not have plastic covers over them.

After removing all the bolts from the slam panel and lifting the slam panel out of the way, then remove the 2 bolts circled below (1 each side of the grille) to allow the grille to move forward slightly.

Next remove the bump stop (loosen the locking nut (10mm) first and remove the nut (10mm) from under the tab) then remove the M6 bolt at the bottom of the grille directly below the bump stop (circled in red)

Carefully screw the support into the the hole at the bottom of the grille, pulling the grille gently forward until the support is far enough into the thread to slide it under the tab on the grille and then finish tightening the support. Screw the bump stop in through the tab and into the support, check the height by closing the bonnet and checking the bonnet height, when happy tighten the locknut and refit the bolts on the wings and the slam panel.

and then slide under the bump stop tap and reinstall the bump stump, adjusting it with the locknut to line up perfectly with the wings (fenders).

I’ll have a pair please. I am in the UK from 8th to 25th May from NZ so could pick them up at my daughter’s UK address. Do you have a spare bump stop as 1 of mine is missing?
